Elementary Students from St. Francis Xavier School Visit Petoskey Plastics Plant

Petoskey, MI: Elementary students from Mrs. Daniel’s class at St. Francis Xavier School visited the Petoskey plant on Friday, February 10, 2017. Thirty students were split into groups of five along with a chaperone to provide safe and manageable tours through the manufacturing facility. Petoskey Plastics showed the students how plastic bags are manufactured and packaged with all of the helping hands of the plant associates.

Daniel stated, The children really enjoyed seeing a working factory and all of the jobs that it encompasses. The tour fit perfectly into our Michigan/Entrepreneur studies.

Students found the fast-moving blown plastic bubbles to be fascinating and the small resin pebbles in the big bins were fun to play with.

Pat Gammon, HR Generalist for Petoskey Plastics, stated, “The children in my tour group were very interested in the texture of the different resins as well as the amount of recycling that takes place in the plant.”

At the end of the tour, students received a roll of trash bags that were manufactured at the Petoskey plant.
